These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a contract between you and the operator of HebrewO at hebrewo.app (“HebrewO”, “we”, “us”). They cover the website, tracing canvas, course, quizzes, worksheets, blog, and any related pages we run (the “Service”).
By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use HebrewO.
1. Who we are
HebrewO is a web app that teaches Hebrew handwriting. You write print (block) forms and Israeli cursive (Ktav Yad) by tracing letters and everyday words. We are not a school, university, or government body. We are not affiliated with Duolingo or any Israeli ministry of education.
Questions about these Terms: hello@hebrewo.app.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must review these Terms and is responsible for your use. HebrewO is not directed at children under 13.
If you buy a paid plan, you confirm that you can form a contract and that the payment method is yours to use.
3. The Service
HebrewO currently includes:
- A free daily word on the home page. The same word is shown to everyone that UTC day, picked from the 500-word course.
- Tracing in print and Ktav Yad, unit quizzes, spaced review, an alphabet reference table, and printable worksheets.
- Optional account sign-in so progress can follow you across devices.
- Paid access that unlocks the full 22-letter path, five sofit forms, and the 500 core words.
We may add, change, or retire lessons, words, or features. Lifetime access covers handwriting lessons we ship on HebrewO, not every product we might launch under another name.
4. Use without an account
You can try the daily word and use much of the course in this browser without signing in. Progress, quiz unlocks, and streaks then live in local storage on that device. Clearing site data, switching browsers, or using a private window will lose that progress. Signing in is how you keep a record that is not tied to one browser.
5. Accounts
If you create an account you must give a working email address and keep your login details safe. You are responsible for activity on the account. Tell us at hello@hebrewo.app if you think someone else is using it.
We may refuse, suspend, or close an account that breaks these Terms, that we cannot verify, or that we reasonably believe is used for abuse or fraud.
6. Paid plans
Two paid options are offered on the pricing page:
- Monthly access: USD 7.99 per month, billed through Stripe, with a 7-day free trial. The first charge is on day 8 unless you cancel during the trial.
- Lifetime access: USD 54, billed once through Stripe. This buys ongoing access to the HebrewO handwriting course on this Service for as long as we operate it, including lessons we add to that course. It is not a share of our company and it is not a promise that the site will exist forever.
Prices are shown in US dollars. Your bank or Stripe may add tax, FX, or card fees. The amount charged is the amount Stripe presents at checkout.
7. Trials, renewal, and cancellation
The monthly trial is seven days. Cancel before it ends and you are not charged for that cycle. After the trial, monthly access renews each month until you cancel. Cancel in the billing settings we provide after login, or email hello@hebrewo.app from the address on the account. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
Lifetime access does not renew and has no further HebrewO subscription charge for the course covered by that purchase.
8. Refunds
Trial period: if you cancel before the first monthly charge, you pay nothing. We do not refund a monthly charge after it has been taken, except where the law in your country requires it (for example some consumer cooling-off rules).
Lifetime: if you email hello@hebrewo.app within 14 days of the lifetime payment and ask for a refund, we will refund the USD 54 through Stripe, unless we reasonably believe the request is abusive (for example repeated buy-and-refund). After 14 days, lifetime purchases are not refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
If a charge fails or a payment is reversed, we may pause paid access until it is resolved.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Copy, scrape, or redistribute the course, stroke paths, quizzes, or word lists to run a competing product.
- Reverse engineer the tracing engine except as allowed by mandatory law.
- Probe, overload, or disrupt the Service, or bypass paywalls, quizzes, or account checks.
- Use HebrewO to send spam, malware, or illegal content, or to harass anyone.
- Share one paid login as a public or classroom-wide substitute for separate access, except you may sit with a child or student and practise on your own account.
10. Your traces and progress
Strokes you draw on the canvas are created on your device. Until you sign in, scores and unlocks stay in that browser. We do not claim copyright in your handwriting. You grant us a limited licence to store and display progress on the Service if you choose to save it to an account, only to run HebrewO for you.
Do not upload content you do not have the right to use. The canvas is for tracing our outlines, not for hosting other people’s work.
11. Our content
The site design, lesson structure, quizzes, word list, stroke outlines, and software are owned by us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use them through the Service for your own learning, including printing worksheets for personal or classroom use with students you teach directly.
You may not extract the bundled handwriting font or our stroke data to use outside HebrewO. Print and PDF sheets are for learning, not for resale as a separate product.
12. Educational disclaimer
HebrewO is a handwriting practice tool. It does not certify that you can read or write Hebrew, enrol you in a school, or replace a teacher, speech therapist, or official exam. Transliterations and phonetics are teaching hints. Israeli pronunciation and handwriting vary. If a classroom or exam requires a specific form, follow that requirement.
Gematria values are traditional letter numbers for reference. They are not religious instruction and not financial or mystical advice.
13. Third-party services
Sign-in is handled by our auth provider (currently Supabase when accounts are enabled). Payments are handled by Stripe. We do not see your full card number. Hosting, email delivery, and optional usage telemetry may run on vendors we hire to operate the site. Their terms apply to the parts they provide.
14. Availability
We aim to keep HebrewO online, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. Maintenance, hosting faults, or changes to fonts and browsers can affect tracing. The Service is provided as a web app; we do not currently ship a separate App Store or Play Store binary.
15. Termination
You may stop using HebrewO at any time and delete site data in your browser. You may ask us to close a paid account at hello@hebrewo.app. We may suspend or end access if you break these Terms. Sections that by nature should survive (including our content rights, disclaimers, and liability limits) remain in force.
16. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that tracing scores are an accurate measure of handwriting quality, or that the daily word, quizzes, or reviews will produce any particular learning outcome.
17. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, HebrewO and the people who operate it are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-profit damages, or for lost progress stored only in your browser.
Our total liability for a claim about the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for HebrewO in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 54 if you have not paid in that period. Some places do not allow these limits. In those places, our liability is limited to the maximum permitted.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, where that is the law.
18. Changes
We may update these Terms. The date at the top will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the new Terms. If a change is material and you have an account, we will try to email the address on file or post a notice on the site.
19. Law and disputes
If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer laws in your country still apply and these Terms do not take those rights away.
Otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and courts in England have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any forum to protect our intellectual property.
